Flagler, Henry (1830 - 1913) - originally a northern businessman, Flagler became a major promoter and developer of Florida's east coast. He developed both the railroad and hotels along the east coast. His first project was the Ponce de Leon Hotel, which opened in St. Augustine on January 10, 1888; his last was the overseas railroad link to Key West, which opened January 22, 1912.
